Aston Martin Joins SUV Club With The Varekai

In all rendering, Aston Martin loves branding its range of products with the V label. It has the Valkyrie, the Vanquish, and the Vantage.

In this same line of thought, the company’s first SUV named the Varekai is in the pipeline. It was first previewed as at the Geneva Motor Show in 2016 carrying the DBX label.

You will need very little convincing that this is an excitingly ambitious machine that aims to take on the likes of the Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga, as well as the Lamborghini Urus and the Maserati Levante.

The Varekai has done quite some borrowing from its predecessors. The headlights, made ultra-thin and captivating are similar to those on the Vantage while the low-sitting front grille relates closely to the DB11 grand tourer.

The DB11 further donates to the DBX’s or Varakie its rear-end design. You will also see significant similarities on the Varakie’s roof as found on the DB11.

But this is also a vehicle that has its own heart and soul. It is more muscular and sits higher from the ground. The combined effort of its ancestor cues also makes its exterior styling outstanding.

If this car comes with the same 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine found on the Aston’s DBS Superleggera supercar or the DB11, then it would place it well in the class of unforgiving guzzlers. Entry trim levels also carry the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 found on the Mercedes AMG and adopted by Vantage as well as DB11 V8.

Isn’t the SUV class getting even more exciting? Indeed it is, especially with numerous high-end offers gracing our world.
