Ford’s best-selling truck just got a serious attitude adjustment. The 2025 F-150 Lobo is the brand’s new take on the factory street truck. It is a lowered, V8-powered version of the full-size pickup. Until now, the F-150 didn’t have a model that focuses on street performance. However, the company has now built the Lobo specifically for style-conscious people who are more into street driving than off-road adventures.
Ford has reintroduced the “Lightning” name for its high-performance electric truck, and this truck generates up to 580 horsepower. According to Josh Blundo (lead exterior designer of Ford on both the F-150 and Maverick Lobos), the key features of a true street truck include a lowered ride height, bold styling cues, and for the F-150, a roaring V8 engine with dual exhaust outlets.
When it comes to mechanical setup, the F-150 Lobo has a non-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 engine. This delivers an extraordinary 400 horsepower as well as 410 lb-ft of torque. The Lobo comes standard with all-wheel drive. Sorry, if you want a rear-wheel drive, the F-150 Lobo might not be for you. This truck also has an updated two-speed automatic transfer case, which helps manage power delivery and improves traction when required. Moreover, it isn’t merely about looks; the Lobo has a payload capability of 1,450 pounds and can tow as much as 7,900 pounds.
You can get a similar type of V8 engine in other versions of the F-150. However, it is the only Lobo that stands out due to its distinctive designs. The designer Josh Blundo claims that they have dropped the rear suspension by exactly two inches, and the 10-piece body kit makes the truck look even lower.
Still, the Ford F-150 Lobo doesn’t sit as low as the available gas-powered Lightning trucks. The Lobo also rolls on special black 22-inch wheels. These wheels are wrapped in Bridgestone Alenza all-season tires (sized at 275/50) that deliver a fully comfortable ride as well as confident handling on the pavement.
No, sir, the exterior dressings of Ford didn’t stop there. It also has a bold cowl hood that gives the F-150 Lobo a muscle car vibe. Moreover, it includes black hood vents that give a more aggressive look. You’ll also notice blacked-out badges on the front fenders, dark exhaust tips, and a matching black rear bumper. Up front, the truck steals the spotlight with a body-colored bumper that has a wide lower grille. The upper grille includes a distinctive mesh split by LED lights that connects with both headlamps.
Inside the Lobo, you’ll find cloth seats with appealing yellow stitching, a premium leather finish lid, as well as a dashboard made of sporty-looking material. You will face a fully digital gauge display, and in the center, you will find a large 12-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, similar to other F-150 models. So far, the company hasn’t revealed complete details about available options. However, it is sure that the Ford Lobo will be available in five paint colors:
- Atlas Blue Metallic
- Agate Black Metallic
- Oxford White
- Carbonized Gray
- Rapid Red Tinted Clearcoat
The price of the 2025 F-150 Lobo begins at $59,995. It is going to be built in Dearborn, Michigan, and according to the company, it’ll go on sale this fall.
