Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ford Mustang Mach E 2025 Models Compared

A detailed review of the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ford Mustang Mach E highlighting price, range, charging, and design.
The race of EV crossovers is heating up, and I recently had the chance to test the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ford Mustang Mach-E. There is no doubt that both vehicles are strong contenders. However, they feature unique styles, charging capabilities, interiors, and pricing that can influence customers to choose one EV instead of the other.
Price and Trims
Ford made a smart move this year by minimizing the starting price of the Mustang Mach-E. At $37,995, the Mustang Mach-E is noticeably more affordable than the Ioniq 5, which has a starting price of $42,600. Even as you climb up the trim ladder, you will see that the Mach-E will still undercut Hyundai by a few thousand dollars. If your priority is budget, then go for Ford.
Performance and Range
If I talk about behind the wheel, both EVs produce that swift torque thrill. The Ioniq 5 N really impressed me with its quick acceleration as it hit 0–60 mph in merely 3.25 seconds. It is slightly quicker than Ford’s Rally trim at 3.4 seconds. However, Ford is way ahead in range if it gets an extended battery, which gives up to 320 miles. On the other hand, Hyundai offers 318 miles.
Charging Speeds
Here’s where Hyundai dominates. On a DC fast charger, the Ioniq 5 takes only 20 minutes to go from 10% to 80%. All credit goes to its 350 kW architecture. On the other hand, the Mach-E takes around 38 minutes to charge. If you go on a long trip, Hyundai’s faster charging will really make a difference.
Storage and Interior
Ford has cleverly used its space with a 5 cu ft. frunk, and you won’t believe it, but this frunk is washable and drainable. Hyundai’s frunk is much smaller at 0.85 cu ft, even though its cabin space is slightly larger. When it comes to the interior, Ford has a Mustang-inspired sporty vibe. Hyundai has got a blend of retro-futuristic design with sleek tech touches.
