Lamborghini Donates First U.S. Aventador to Museum

A legendary supercar becomes part of automotive history in Los Angeles.
The Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles has just added a showstopper to its collection, and this showstopper is North America’s very first Lamborghini Aventador. The Aventador isn’t merely an ordinary supercar. It is a piece of history that was actually Lamborghini’s bold step into a totally new era in 2011.
The donated Aventador made its debut in the United States of America with exclusive previews in cities like Miami and New York. However, it wasn’t an ordinary preview in which vehicles sit behind ropes merely as a display piece. This legendary car hit the track in different events and even played an important role in training the service technicians of Lamborghini.
Now, the Lamborghini Aventador will live permanently in the museum’s famous Vault. It is a section that has 300+ rare vehicles from different eras and categories, including motorsports and Hollywood icons.
There is no doubt, the Aventador was a game-changer for Lamborghini. It replaced the Murciélago in 2011 and came with a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, which was lighter, safer, and stronger than anything before it.
This vehicle had a massive 6.5-liter V12 engine, generating 700 horsepower. The engine was paired with a lightning-fast transmission. The transmission had the ability to change gears in just 50 milliseconds. These top-class innovations helped the Aventador break sales records for Lamborghini’s V12 lineup and set new records in the supercar world.
Visitors to the Petersen will not merely see the Aventador. They will also see Lamborghini legends such as the LM002 SUV, the Countach 5000 S, and even rare collaborations like the Cizeta V16T.
Andrea Baldi, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini Americas, said, “The Lamborghini V12 is a symbol of our brand’s legacy. By placing this Aventador in the Petersen Museum, we’re giving fans and enthusiasts the chance to admire it for generations.”
