Meet the $158,000 Honda Civic Type R Built Like a Race Car

A Civic that feels more like a track monster than a daily driver
The Honda Civic Type R has always been quick, loud, and fun. But this version is on a completely different level. Built by Autobacs Racing Team Aguri, also known as ARTA, this Civic is not just inspired by racing. It is built with real racing experience behind it. And yes, the final price can climb to around $158,000.
ARTA is not your usual tuning brand. It was founded by former Formula 1 driver Aguri Suzuki and has spent years racing in Japan’s Super GT series. For this project, the team took the latest FL5 Honda Civic Type R and treated it like a proper race car. Racing driver Tomoki Nojiri and drift legend Keiichi Tsuchiya were also involved, and their input actually shaped how the car drives.
At first glance, the car looks aggressive, but every part has a job. The front bumper improves airflow and cooling. The wide fenders help control air around the wheels. At the back, a large diffuser and a tall GT-style wing add stability at high speeds. Nothing here is just for looks.
ARTA also worked on the mechanical side. The turbo system was reworked, the suspension was fully upgraded, and the factory speed limiter was removed. The goal was simple. Make the Civic as fast and capable as possible while keeping it legal for the road.
Inside, the changes are clean and focused. You get a suede racing steering wheel and tighter Recaro seats that hold you firmly in place. At the same time, the cabin still feels familiar. You can drive it on the street without feeling like you are sitting in a stripped race car.
Only 20 of these cars will ever be built, and all of them will stay in Japan. It is expensive, no doubt. But for someone who wants a Civic that feels as close to a Super GT car as you can get without a pit crew, this one stands alone.
