Porsche 911 Speedster: The New Master Of Speed
Where Are You Heading Doing Zero To 60 Mph In Just 3.8 Seconds?
Porsche says that only 1,948 examples of the epic Porsche 911 Speedster will be made for the global market. Whatever the numbers, this is a very special car and one that will remain in our minds for a very long time.
At the spicy price of about $277,000 per Speedster, the profits are as handsome as the machine that has taken the company quite some time to bring together. The 911 Speedster has powers sized from a flat-six engine that carries quite a sizable 4.0-liter flat-6 engine that produces an incredible 502 horsepower.
It loves to drive its rear wheels with the able assistance of the well abled 6-speed manual transmission. This drivetrain is also found in more or less a similar shape of the GT3 race cars.
But there is more to this car from Stuttgart than just the endearing paint job or the enticing open-top design. The latest Speedster was developed under Porsche Motorsport Centre, a powerhouse credited with the development the 1998 G-Model 911 Speedster T of the which develops the purest GT2 and G.
One of the most conspicuous elements of the new Speedster exterior is the shorter and steeper windscreen as well as the side windows. This makes it look more chubby and stubbier.
But this is a car developed with racing in mind and as such, there is a lot of handling capabilities installed. The reduced weight (3,400 lbs) is also an invigorating factor when it comes to Speedster handling.
The roofless top which is manually operated further help to keep a lot of things calm. In the end, 3.8 secs is enough time to have the 911 get to 60 mph.
This Porsche is not rough but rather handles most of its stuff with civility until you decide to be rowdy on the accelerator. However, it is proving to have the guts to test just what time has in store for the future
