A driveshaft issue has forced Toyota to recall thousands of 2025 Tacoma trucks. Here’s what went wrong, what risks owners should know about, and how Toyota plans to fix it.

Toyota is recalling some of its 2025 Tacoma pickup trucks, and the reason is a bit concerning: a problem with the front driveshaft joints. The company says these parts might have been made with the wrong material, making them more likely to break or bend over time.

So, what does this mean for drivers? If the driveshaft joint fails, the truck may become harder to turn. For Tacomas with full-time four-wheel drive, there is another risk. The transmission might not fully shift into park, and if the parking brake is not on, the truck could actually roll away on its own.

The recall covers about 6,000 Tacomas, mostly four-wheel-drive versions. Toyota is asking owners of these trucks to bring them to a dealer for inspection. If the parts were built during the faulty production period, technicians will replace them. The good news is that it will be completely free.

Owners should start getting official recall letters by late November 2025. Until then, Toyota strongly recommends using the parking brake every single time the truck is parked, just to be safe.

While recalls are never great news, Toyota is moving quickly to fix the problem. Free repairs and quick inspections should give Tacoma owners some peace of mind that their truck will be safe and ready for the road again.
