V-8 Hellcat Ram TRX Is Making a Comeback, Stellantis CEO Confirms
Hellcat-powered TRX set to return in 2026 with more power and bold upgrades
Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa has officially announced that the Ram 1500 TRX, featuring its iconic supercharged Hellcat V8, is returning to production. This announcement came during the company’s first-half 2025 financial call on July 29. Antonio Filosa stated that “the V8 engine on versions such as the Ram 1500 TRX will deliver to us additional volumes but also accreted margins per unit”.
It had been discontinued in 2024 due to tightening emissions rules. However, now the Ram TRX is expected to come back as a 2026 model. The automaker says that its production will begin in January 2026 at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan.
The original TRX became everyone’s favorite due to its supercharged 6.2 L Hellcat Hemi V8. It produces 702 horsepower and set a new benchmark for factory-made off-road pickups. The new version is widely expected to push the vehicle’s power levels even higher. It is likely to surpass the 720 hp produced by the Ford F-150 Raptor R. This makes a clear statement in the segment of high-performance trucks.
This comeback links with the broader strategic shift of Stellantis. In 2025, the automobile company reversed its previous decision to drop the Hemi V8 line, choosing instead to restart manufacturing of different V8 variants (the 5.7 L Hemi, the 6.4 L “Apache” (392), and the Hellcat) at its Michigan engine plants.
According to the announcement, this production will begin in August 2025. Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis has returned to lead both Ram and the newly revived SRT performance team. He aims to revive the V8 engine, and this news has brought back excitement among loyal enthusiasts.
The automaker hasn’t disclosed the exact pricing and complete specs yet. However, experts predict that the new TRX will include updated design and tech features from the refreshed 2025 RAM 1500. With its powerful V8 power and the highest-quality off-road capability, the TRX is ready to reclaim its supremacy among its top competitors.
