Simple changes, smarter tech, and better comfort turn Audi’s latest electric cars into everyday companions you can actually enjoy driving.

Audi is refreshing its midsize electric cars for 2027, and instead of chasing more speed or higher horsepower, the company is focusing on something far more important. Everyday comfort. Simple controls. And features that actually make life easier for drivers.

The updates apply to two models: the A6 Sportback e-tron sedan and the Q6 e-tron SUV. Both cars already deliver strong electric performance, solid driving range, and premium interiors. So this time, Audi decided to improve the experience inside the cabin, where drivers spend most of their time.

The Q6 e-tron has been especially important for the brand. In a tough sales year, it still managed healthy numbers in the US market. That showed Audi one clear thing. Customers want premium electric vehicles that feel easy, practical, and comfortable, not complicated.

What’s new for 2027

For the 2027 model year, Audi has introduced several updates that focus on technology, usability, and driver comfort.

  • Updated MMI infotainment system with a cleaner layout

  • Physical buttons return on the multifunction steering wheel

  • Improved voice control system

  • More efficient regenerative braking for smoother one-pedal driving

  • Available Audi dashcam with 4K video recording

  • New Power Nap mode during charging stops

  • Three-year or 30,000-mile scheduled maintenance plan

The MMI infotainment system now looks cleaner and feels easier to use. Audi removed cluttered menus and replaced them with simple icons and clearer graphics. The goal is to help drivers find settings faster, without getting distracted. Even the Audi Virtual Cockpit, which is the digital driver display, now shows information in a more organized and calmer way.

A smart return to real buttons

One of the most welcome updates is the return of physical controls on the steering wheel. In recent years, Audi moved toward touch-sensitive panels, but many drivers found them annoying and hard to use while driving.

For 2027, Audi has brought back real buttons along with a scroll wheel. Volume control, menu navigation, and other common functions now feel natural again. It is a small change, but it improves everyday driving more than most people realize.

More comfort, more useful tech

Audi has also added several comfort and safety-focused features. A new Audi dashcam system is now available, capable of recording in sharp 4K resolution even in low-light conditions. This is useful for security, insurance claims, and peace of mind.

Higher trims now offer advanced features like an augmented reality head-up display, a passenger-side display, remote parking assist, digital OLED headlights, and a top-view camera system. Together, these upgrades make daily driving easier and parking in tight spaces far less stressful.

Then there is Power Nap mode, a thoughtful addition for EV drivers. During long charging sessions, the car can adjust lighting, sound, climate control, and seat massage to create a calm and relaxing environment. It turns waiting time into a short break instead of wasted minutes.

Audi has also improved regenerative braking, making one-pedal driving smoother and more predictable. In city traffic, this helps reduce driver fatigue and improves overall comfort.

Pricing and availability

Both the A6 Sportback e-tron and Q6 e-tron will begin arriving at dealerships in the second quarter of 2026. The A6 Sportback e-tron starts at $66,700, while the Q6 e-tron SUV begins at $64,500. Prices have increased slightly, but the added technology and comfort features help justify the difference.

Why this update matters

These updates may not instantly transform Audi’s overall sales numbers, but they show a clear shift in focus. Audi is listening to customer feedback and responding with smarter design choices.

By improving cabin comfort, simplifying controls, and refining in-car technology, Audi is making its midsize EVs easier to live with every day. And in today’s competitive electric vehicle market, that kind of real-world improvement matters.
