Nissan’s electric SUV may have disappeared from the U.S., but it’s getting a new start at home. The Ariya is back in Japan with a fresh look and cool new features that are already catching attention.

The Nissan Ariya didn’t last long in the U.S. market, but its story isn’t over yet. After putting a halt to production for the American market, Nissan is now bringing the Ariya back to life in Japan. The company plans to show the updated version later this month at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo.

The new design has given the Ariya a much cleaner and sharper look. It has taken some styling ideas from the upcoming 2026 Nissan Leaf. The front now has chunkier headlights connected by a black strip, which gives the vehicle a more confident face. The old patterned grille has been replaced with a smooth body-colored panel.

The headlights of the car are now shaped like a V, with three small LED lines that point inward. The bumper also looks cleaner since the automaker has now removed the vertical vents near the wheels. The car keeps its signature black roof and sporty cladding around the wheels, which make it stand out even more.

When it comes to the interior, Nissan has added a few smart upgrades. The new Ariya will come with a Google-powered infotainment system and a “vehicle-to-load” feature. With this feature, drivers will be able to utilize the car’s power to charge small devices. Moreover, the suspension has also been tuned to handle Japanese roads better.

Nissan hasn’t said if the Ariya will return to the USA. However, the refreshed version already looks promising. What failed in one market might just become a big hit back home.
