Land Rover Goes Bold with the 2026 Defender Octa Black Edition

The toughest Defender yet, now blacked out from bumper to badge
- Land Rover has revealed its 2026 Defender Octa Black featuring a bold all-black design and 626 horsepower.
- According to Land Rover, nearly 30 exterior parts are finished in either a glossy or a satin black, while the exterior itself features Narvik Black.
- This SUV has a powerful twin-turbo V8 engine and a 0-60 mph time under 4 seconds, which integrates speed as well as comfort in a new way.
Land Rover has again started turning heads with its new release, the 2026 Defender Octa Black Edition. Alongside the first major facelift of Defender since its return to the U.S. in 2020, the automaker is also bringing a bold, blacked-out visual package to the SUV. Land Rover says it has pushed its design and presence to a completely new level.
As the name entails, the new Octa Black takes nearly every exterior detail in black paint. The automaker has said that they have given 30 exterior parts the Rolling Stones Treatment. Those exterior parts include recovery hooks, scuff plates, wheels, exhaust tips, Land Rover badges, and brake calipers. The body of the 2026 Defender itself wears Narvik Black. Land Rover says it is the ‘truest black’ in the Defender family.
Inside the SUV, there is a dark theme with carbon-fiber accents. The dashboard crossbar is in satin black, the leather seats are in deep ebony, and the seatbacks and armrests feature Carpathian Grey. The Octa Black has also got a tech upgrade. The automaker has replaced the previous 10.0-inch version with the latest 13.1-inch touchscreen.
Performance-wise, the SUV still has its powerful twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine. This engine pumps out an impressive 626 horsepower. With this kind of power, the Octa Black sprints from 0 to 60 mph in under 4 seconds, even quicker than the already speedy and powerful 518-hp Defender 90.
The automaker hasn’t disclosed the official pricing and availability yet. However, we don’t expect that the price will step too far away from the existing $153,625 starting price of the Octa model.
