Leaked Details Reveal Possible New Grand Sport in the 2027 Corvette Lineup

Fresh leaks, classic color names, and engine rumors are fueling big excitement among Corvette fans
The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette is still some time away, but early leaks are already giving fans plenty to talk about. What started as a simple color update has slowly turned into something much bigger. And now, many believe it could point to the return of one of the most loved Corvette versions, the Grand Sport.
The story begins with two new paint codes that recently appeared in GM’s internal ordering system. These were shared by the HorsePower Obsessed YouTube channel, and the codes are listed as GEC and GTR. In simple terms, these translate to Pitch Metallic and Opulent Blue Metallic.
Pitch Metallic is expected to be a dark, sleek shade, likely sitting somewhere between grey and black. It sounds modern, classy, and perfect for the sharp design of the C8 Corvette. But the real excitement comes from Opulent Blue Metallic.
Many Corvette fans believe this is simply the new internal name for Admiral Blue, a legendary Corvette color. This shade has a long history with the Grand Sport models, including the C7 and even the older C4 generation. Because of this strong link, its return is being seen as a big hint that Chevrolet could finally be planning a Grand Sport version of the C8 Corvette.
And this color leak is not standing alone.
Over the past few months, other clues have also surfaced. One of them was an audio clip that many believe teased the sound of a new engine. Shortly after that, a leak from a GM parts book suggested the possible development of a new LS6 V8 engine. According to reports, this engine could feature both direct and port fuel injection, dual overhead cams, and a massive 6.7-liter capacity. If true, this setup would offer serious power and performance, exactly what fans expect from a Grand Sport.
There is more. A new RPO code linked to a Grand Sport Heritage Package has also been spotted. In earlier Corvette models, this package added unique styling touches such as racing stripes and fender graphics. Seeing this code again makes the idea of a new Grand Sport feel even more realistic.
Of course, Chevrolet has not confirmed anything yet. There is still a chance that Admiral Blue could simply be offered on trims like the Stingray or Z06. But for many enthusiasts, that would feel incomplete. Corvette has always respected its history, and bringing back such an iconic color without reviving the Grand Sport badge would seem like a missed opportunity.
At the same time, some current colors are expected to leave the lineup. Reports suggest that Riptide Blue and Hysteria Purple may be discontinued to make room for these new shades. This keeps the color options fresh while still offering plenty of choice.
For now, all eyes are on Chevrolet. Until an official announcement arrives, fans can only connect the dots and wait. But when paint leaks, engine rumors, and heritage package hints all point in the same direction, it becomes hard not to believe that something special is coming. If these leaks turn out to be accurate, the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport could easily become one of the most exciting releases in recent Corvette history.
