Legendary Mercedes Collection Assembled by a Single Collector Hits Auction

A rare Mercedes collection built over decades is now heading to auction in Paris
Some car collections tell stories that go beyond metal and wheels. They show passion, dedication, and a love for history. One such collection is grabbing attention in the car world. A legendary Mercedes-Benz lineup, put together by a single collector, is about to go on auction, giving enthusiasts a chance to own something truly special.
The collection will be featured at RM Sotheby’s Paris auction on January 28, 2026. The event will take place at the Salles du Carrousel inside the Louvre Palace, one of the most iconic locations for such a sale. The owner prefers to stay anonymous. What we do know is that they focused on milestone Mercedes models instead of just collecting numbers.
The lineup is impressive. At its center are two 300 SLs. The first is a 1954 Gullwing from the very first year of production. Only 167 were ever made. The second is a 1962 300 SL Roadster from the final production run, one of the last 182 cars. Modern classics are included as well, like the 2013 SLS AMG Coupe and Roadster, a 2010 SLR McLaren Roadster, and a restored 1969 280 SL Pagoda. Together, these cars trace Mercedes-Benz’s journey from classic racing innovation to modern supercar performance.
Experts expect the 1954 Gullwing to fetch $1.46 million to $2.05 million. The 1962 Roadster could bring $1.40 million to $1.76 million. The modern SLS AMG models and the SLR McLaren are estimated in the hundreds of thousands, while the 1969 Pagoda is the most affordable.
This auction is a rare chance for car lovers. It is an opportunity to see and maybe own some of the most iconic Mercedes models ever built. For anyone who appreciates cars, this is an event not to miss.
