U.S. Air Force plans to test its firepower on Tesla’s stainless-steel beast.

The United States Air Force has got an unusual new interest in Tesla’s Cybertruck. According to some credible reports, the Air Force Test Center (AFTC) wants a few of these electric pickups for its precision munitions program. Their plan is to utilize them as live targets at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. They intend to see how Tesla’s Cybertrucks stand up against the advanced and powerful air-launched weapons.

This testing isn’t merely for fun or curiosity. Military officials’ concern is that Cybertrucks could go to the wrong hands in conflict zones overseas. These vehicles have a unique stainless-steel body, sharp design, and tough build, and because of these features, Cybertrucks could become more difficult to destroy if someone modifies them with armor.

It might sound strange, but this is not a fully far-fetched scenario. Vehicles such as the Land Cruiser and Toyota Hilux have been used by militant groups in war zones. In one popular case, a Texas plumber’s Ford F-250 with his company’s stickers was being used by fighters in Syria. Moreover, there is recent news that Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has multiple Cybertrucks, and some of them have heavy machine guns.

The Air Force’s plan is to fire precision-guided munitions at these trucks so that they can understand how they react under heavy attack. Despite being resistant to small arms fire, it’s possible that armored panels of Cybertruck could behave unexpectedly when hit by missiles. That’s why the U.S. Air Force wants to test the Cybertruck.

So, while most people want to drive a Cybertruck through city streets, the U.S. Air Force may be driving them straight onto a missile testing range. One thing is for sure: no matter how “bulletproof” a Cybertruck is, a Hellfire missile will, undoubtedly, ruin its day.
