Tesla Hints at Model Y Performance Comeback in New Teaser

The Tesla Model Y, one of the world’s top-selling electric SUVs, is getting ready to regain its most powerful trim. Tesla updated the Model Y earlier this year, and during that time, the Performance version disappeared. However now, it looks like the fan-favorite super-fast EV is making a comeback.
Tesla has teased the return with a short video posted on X. The post was captioned simply “Spoiler Alert.” The clip showed what looks like the Model Y’s rear spoiler along with the date August 29, 2025. It has now sparked excitement among EV lovers who have been waiting for the speedy trim to return.

Tesla hasn’t officially confirmed specs, but history gives us some good hints. The Model Y usually follows the lead of the Model 3 sedan, which recently had its Performance model updated.
The new Model 3 Performance features dual motors, which is one for each axle, and it generates up to 510 horsepower and 554 lb-ft of torque. That entails that we can likely expect the reborn Model Y Performance to deliver similar punchy acceleration, enhanced handling, and the highest-quality fun behind the wheel.
Even though Tesla uploaded the teaser from its Europe and Middle East account, it’s difficult to imagine the U.S. market being left out. American buyers love high-performance EVs, and according to the stats, the Model Y Performance has always been a top choice for the buyers who want practicality with an extraordinary dose of speed.
As always, Tesla has kept details close to its chest. So, we’ll have to wait until the automaker official reveals details. But if the teaser is anything to go by, we can expect the comeback of the Model Y Performance soon.
Stay tuned; it’s Tesla’s habit to surprise everyone with launch timelines.
