A rare Ferrari, a painful repair bill, and another accident that no one saw coming

Car crashes happen every day. Most of them barely make the news. But when a rare Ferrari LaFerrari is involved, people stop and pay attention. This time, the story is even more surprising. A LaFerrari that once needed a jaw-dropping $1.4 million repair has reportedly crashed again, and yes, it happened in China.

This isn’t just any Ferrari. The LaFerrari is one of the most special cars the brand has ever built. Only 709 exist in the entire world. Every single one is treated like a collector’s treasure. That is why its history makes this story so wild.

Back in 2015, a LaFerrari crashed badly during rainy conditions. Reports at the time said the car lost grip on wet roads and slid out of control. The damage was serious. Very serious. Because the body is mostly made from carbon fiber, fixing it was never going to be cheap or simple.

Ferrari eventually sent the car back to Italy. Expert technicians worked on it for months, carefully rebuilding it piece by piece. When the job was finally done, the bill reportedly hit $1.4 million. That is almost the same price the car had when it was brand new. For most people, that kind of money is impossible to imagine. For this Ferrari, it was the cost of survival.

Now, nearly ten years later, the same car appears to have crashed again. Photos circulating online show fresh damage, mainly to the front. Details about how the accident happened are still unclear, but early reports suggest no other cars were involved. Once again, it seems control was lost, and once again, the repair bill is expected to be painful.

What connects this crash to the earlier one is a small but unique detail. The original owner, Chinese businessman Qin Fen, had the word “King” stitched into the steering wheel. That same detail appears in images from both accidents. The car’s color also tells the story. It was originally red but later repainted yellow, matching the photos from the latest crash.

The Ferrari LaFerrari itself needs no introduction. It packs a screaming V12 engine combined with an electric motor, producing nearly 950 horsepower. When it launched, it stood toe to toe with the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. Together, these three cars changed the supercar world and became legends almost overnight.

Crashing such a rare machine once is heartbreaking. Doing it twice feels unreal. Even if Ferrari repairs it again, its past will always follow it. Collectors care deeply about history, and two major crashes are hard to ignore.

For now, this unlucky LaFerrari has become one of the most talked-about cars in the world. A reminder that no matter how advanced or expensive a car is, the road always has the final say.
