A Man Creates A Plane/Car Hybrid

In this world,there are ideas you look at and wonder whether the thinker is from this world or another one altogether. Somehow, automotive take a good chunk of these ideas. Their creators tell stories of great imagination, effort and dedication in time and other resources to make them come true.

If you ever come across the 32 ft long plane car made by 56-year-old Mark Ray, you will understand better why some ideas are just from another planet.

But you’ve got to appreciate the effort and the journey first. Mark says by the time he was 27 years old, he had already owned,re-crafted, redesigned 400 cars. That’s legendary.

His eye-catching project, the Plane Car, he says,took him 10 months and over $10000 to finalize, but its one he is immensely proud of. Mind you, it was not his first plane car to curve.

“This is the largest project I’ve ever had,” said Mark, “the last plane car could only seat two people and I’ve got four kids, and my fiancé. I can’t shove them all in that little three-seater, so I wanted to build something much larger.”

The man from Atlanta, Georgia made his car from a GMC Sierra 2500 and a 1974 Cessna aircraft he bought from a plane savage yard. When he set out to do his stuff, he meant business and the outcome is something that has makes turns head and attracts a crowd that mills around wherever he goes.

Mark says, “When people see the plane car, it’s just a look of joy. The kids have a ball with it, but you see all the grown-ups become children too because it’s just so much fun.”
