An oldie but goodie, with a psychopathic hitchhiker kidnapping two men and promising to kill them both. The full U.S. highway system was not complete when this film debuted.

  • The inspiration for this movie comes from the true-life story of Billy Cook who murdered a family of five and traveling salesman in California.
  • Then he kidnaps Sheriff Homer Waldrip, forcing home to drive Cook into the desert and tied up the Sheriff and stole the police cruiser. Though Sheriff Waldrip was left to die in the desert, he found his way back to the main road. Cook was eventually found and went to trial to receive the death penalty.
  • #23: “Repo Man” (1984)

A tour de force for Harry Dean Stanton and Emilio Estevez as they risk their lives in a satire about auto repossession in a futuristic society. Welcome to Edge City, where Stanton rails against “ordinary … people.”

  • In the movie, there were no special effects to make the Chevy Malibu glow in the repossession lot but they created the glowing illusion by coating the whole car in 3M reflective paint which cost nearly $600 per bucket.
  • On Rotton Tomatoes this movie ranked 98% on the Tomatometer.
