Was The Chrysler Crossfire A Good Car At All?
The Crossfire was a good attempt at small coupes by Chrysler
Chrysler built the Crossfire as a two-door, two-seat given as a coupe or convertible. It existed between 2004 and 2008 model years.
This small intuitive car followed in the footsteps of the Mercedes-Benz SLK and gave Chrysler the impetus to cheer up its sportscar category. Powertrains were passed down from the SLK as well and the Crossfire was gifted a 3.2-liter V-6, making 215 hp and 229 pound-feet of torque.
It worked excellently with a five-speed automatic or a six-speed manual. The Crossfire was a rear-drive car with a short wheelbase that was 94.5-inches. It checked weight at 3000 pounds in coupe form making straight-line performance good enough for the day.
The suspension of the Chrysler Crossfire was a double-wishbone independent suspension, which had critics observer that it slowed the steering. Nonetheless, the Crossfire largely maintained good ride quality for a car riding on its short wheelbase.
The Crossfire was more or less an experimental car gauging market response. Unfortunately, it was rather short-lived and faded without much explanation for the automaker. Nonetheless, it is a memorable car that would make a good throwback classic.
Either way, the Crossfire was a creatively sporty car that aimed to work purposefully in a big way. Chrysler is known for lengthy luxurious cars and it, therefore, attracts interest when it builds a small two passenger-oriented car.
