Living Life With Hyperhidrosis
Waking up covered in sweat is the worst.
It’s not fun to sweat a lot. You get stains on your clothes, you smell weird, and you feel like you need to shower all the time. It’s a generally unpleasant state of being. If you don’t suffer from hyperhidrosis, which is the medical way of saying excessive sweating, here’s what you’re not dealing with.
Getting your morning going takes twice as long. Grabbing your toiletries is made difficult by sweaty palms, and a sweaty face makes makeup application difficult. You need to pack things like wipes, deodorant, and changes of clothes for work in case your sweat stains become too prominent. No matter how hot it is, you’re always sweating, which isn’t good for your self-esteem since it feels like you’re going to leave a trail of sweat wherever you go. Speaking of self-esteem, social interaction becomes tougher because you’re always self-conscious of your sweat. Even shaking someone’s hand becomes a clammy, unpleasant experience, which can be more of a problem depending on your profession. Even when you get home, you’re still sweating buckets, which means more time wasted doing things like cooking and cleaning, not to mention all of the extra laundry you’ll have to do thanks to all those extra clothes you burn through.
Hyperhidrosis stinks (in more ways than one). Don’t force yourself to live that kind of life, speak to your doctor about what you can do. I guarantee whatever they suggest beats swimming in your shorts every day.
