Driving Down Memory Lane With Thunderbird’s Replica Vehicle
Memories Of A One-Times World’s Favorite Show Is Now Packed In This Car
Replicas of iconic TV show cars are always a hit. Wherever they go, they are sure to catch the attention and attract the ‘i-know-you kind of looks.’
In the UK, such an icon has attracted just enough noise for interested parties even as it goes on sale. The Thunderbird 2 is based on one of the vehicles that featured on a memorable TV show in the 1960s going by the same name.
Its dark-green color, a two-engine airplane, double-wing airplane shape crowned with yellow stripes make it a prominent and inviting feature. This replica is officially registered and perfectly road legal. It is expected to fetch a handsome price when it goes on sale.
Other interesting features in this creation include a campervan set in the rear of the car and a DVD player to go along with good times. Perhaps the sloppy side of the Thunderbird is its meager power derived from the 1994 Toyota Previa.
The Previa was a rather popular mover in Australia where it was as the Tarago. It has a 2.4-liter engine that records about 15 seconds to reach 100km/h. The original Thunderbird was designed to fly 9700 km/h and therefore the replica is a far cry attempt at this old good machine.
The cabin is accessible through a pair of gullwing doors on each side. The green theme color continues on several elements including the seats and the duvet on the bed at the back. Standing in for the defunct rear view mirror is a rearview camera.
The car’s owner Mark Harrison says its time to let it go having tweaked several aspects on it for the period he’s had it.
