I lived with the MG Cyberster for seven days. Here is what daily driving, comfort, performance, charging, and real-life usability actually feel like.

Electric cars have become normal now. You see them everywhere. On highways, in traffic, in parking lots, and even in small towns. But electric roadsters are still very rare. In fact, if you want a proper two-seat, open-top electric sports car that you can buy today, your choices are almost zero.

That is where the MG Cyberster comes in.

I spent a full week driving this car in real-life conditions. City traffic. Long highway runs. Quick grocery trips. Evening drives. Even some fun runs on open roads. By the end of the week, I had a very clear picture of what it is like to live with the world’s only electric roadster.

And honestly, it was a refreshing experience.

What Is the MG Cyberster?

The Cyberster is MG’s bold return to the world of sports cars. Classic MG roadsters were light, simple, and fun. The Cyberster takes that same idea but brings it into the modern electric era.

This is not a subtle car. Everything about it is dramatic. The low and wide stance, the sharp lines, and especially the scissor doors make sure people notice it. And they do. Everywhere I went, people stopped to look. Some took pictures. Some walked over just to ask what it was.

It feels like driving a concept car on public roads.

Power, Performance, and Real Driving Feel

Underneath the stylish body, the Cyberster uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup with a 77 kWh battery. The total output is 536 horsepower, which is a big number for a roadster.

Press the accelerator, and the car moves instantly. The 0 to 62 mph time of around 3.2 seconds feels very real. Quick overtakes are effortless. Highway merging is stress-free. The car always feels ready to surge forward.

At the same time, it does not feel wild or difficult to control. Power delivery is smooth, and the steering is light and easy, especially in city driving.

Here is a quick look at its key highlights.

Feature Details
Power 536 hp
Torque 535 lb-ft
Battery 77 kWh
Drivetrain Dual-motor AWD
0–62 mph Around 3.2 seconds
Driving Modes AWD and 2WD
Roof Power soft-top
Charging DC fast charging

One feature I really liked was the 2WD mode. It disconnects the front motor and saves energy. For daily driving, this mode feels perfect. You still get strong performance, but the range improves noticeably.

Ride Comfort and Handling

Despite being a sports car, the Cyberster feels surprisingly comfortable. The suspension is tuned more toward comfort than hardcore performance. On highways, it feels stable, calm, and relaxing. Long drives are easy.

On twisty roads, the car is fun, but you can feel the weight. It does not dance like a lightweight roadster. Instead, it feels planted and confident, which suits its grand touring nature.

For daily driving, this balance works very well.

Interior, Tech, and Everyday Practicality

Step inside, and you are surrounded by screens. There is a curved display for driving information, two side screens, and another screen for settings and climate control. Everything looks modern and sharp.

The seats are comfortable and supportive. After long drives, I never felt tired or uncomfortable. Storage is decent for a roadster. You get cupholders, door pockets, center console storage, and a small trunk. It is enough for daily needs and short trips.

The soft-top roof deserves special praise. It opens or closes in about 10 seconds and works even while driving at low speeds. If sudden rain starts, you do not need to stop. Just press the button and keep moving.

One small thing I missed was auto-hold in traffic. In heavy city driving, it would have made life easier.

Real-World Range and Charging

Official range figures sound great, but real-world numbers matter more. During my week, I mostly saw between 240 and 260 miles on a full charge. Driving gently in 2WD mode helped stretch the range.

With fast charging, the battery can go from 10 to 80 percent in around 38 minutes, which is practical for road trips and long journeys.

Final Verdict

After one full week, I can say the MG Cyberster is a very special electric car. It is not perfect. It is not a hardcore sports car. It is not a luxury cruiser either. But it offers something no other EV does right now.

An open roof. Serious performance. Bold design. And real everyday usability.

If you want an electric car that feels emotional, exciting, and different from the usual crowd, the MG Cyberster deserves serious attention. It proves that electric sports cars can still be fun, stylish, and full of character.
