This One Changes Your Mindset

Anyone who’s ever owned a purely customized car will tell you that there is a nostalgic feeling about it. There is an inherent, inexplicable attachment between man and machine that makes you dream on.

It is thus not surprising that a man will go to any length and invest heavily to build the kind of machine that his heart truly desires. Wayne Allman who runs the Intergalactic Custom Shop in Stratford-upon-Avon set his eyes in building the most unique breakdown car in the world.

He even found an awkward name for it, calling it the Mental Breakdown. If you break down everything about it, you realize that it is simply a somewhat bonkers conversion Volkswagen Pickup Truck.

But such are the kind of ideas that keep men dreaming. Wayne worked on this project in his spare time and at his workshop and ended up counting more than a decade of time spent building it.

He even lost count of exactly how much money he put into the project and neither does he know how much it is worth. He says, “I didn’t keep tabs on how much it cost me and I don’t really care, but it would probably cost £150,000($196,00) to replicate it. I don’t know what it’s worth but that isn’t why I built it, I made it purely because I wanted to and I knew it would be a challenge both to build and then to fine-tune and drive.”

That he named it the “Mental Breakdown” tells of his ambitious drive to go beyond the normal, something he achieved with some fulfillment.
