When it first popped to the scene, the Porsche 928 looked all exotic and ready to do things in its own style. It was attractive and mouthwatering.

This notwithstanding, it surprised many people for claiming that it would be the replacement to the revered 911. In making an attempt, it had come with a front engine and was water-cooled.

It’s been 41 years since the 928 rolled off the production line. It would be unfair not to mention that it was a car quite ahead of its time.

If you pull one through the streets today, it will no doubt get just as much attention. You could feel the sense of this engineering genius, for it lived to be produced for seventeen more years in which a lot of evolving took place. It still managed to retain a combination of speed and comfort.

In spite of its good looks and promising future, fans were simply not into it. This explains why the car never had a replacement and was simply let to fade off.

Today, a couple of them are still available, although most of them were reportedly lost to race or track fantasy. It is, however, notable that the Porsche 928 makes the kind of car that would be nice to own at whatever age. More interestingly, you only need to brush off the dust, as opposed to making an overhaul to make it look fancy or modern.
