TVR Speed 12 Car: This One Was A Rough, Powerful Concept
This One Was Rough, Powerful Concept
Whatever, the folks who created the riotous TVR Cerbera Speed 12 wanted to achieve, only they can tell. Even with its mean, outrageous look, it had caused quite a buzz in the 1990s, promised very powerful specs with its V12 engine and 800 horsepower.
Horse work was done by the rear wheels and energy sent through a six-speed manual transmission. It was not something for the ordinary folks to drive.
Unfortunately, it never went to production, perhaps observing that it was too ambitious for life! The vehicle was crafted upon the TVR hardware and aimed at combining high-performance specifications with GT1 class special racing abilities.
There was a challenge in achieve GT1 class regulations and further problems during its development made things even more unfriendly and the TVR executives had to simply abandon its development. The engine was a 7.7-liter that carried 12 cylinders.
The body styling was perhaps among the most telling of its time. It featured a long hood with a short cabin that could seat two very daring people. At the rear, the curvy smooth tailgate had defied the circular approach favored by makers of the time. The spoiler was also in place to add more aerodynamic abilities to the car.
This was not only an ambitious approach but one whose troubles were almost foreseable from a distance. It was too rudimentary and needed lots of fine-tuning to achieve its end plan.
