Why The Chinese Auto Market Is Essential In 2019: The BAIC Arcfox-7

There are several ways to look at the potential of the EV market but numbers should be the ultimate tests of progress. The Chinese market is inevitably one we will be closely watching going forward and if what was portrayed in the tail end of 2018 is anything to go by, then the market is EV market is ripe for manufacturers to take advantage of.

In September 2018, the Chinese market made a record-breaking 104,900 plug-in electric vehicle s of ales. In October, the numbers soared to nearly 120,000. Not unexpectedly, BAIC sold 20,648 of these cars, giving the close competitor BYD Tang PHEV who came second a wide berth having sold just about 6,037 units.

This serves as an indicator that the market will continue demonstrating interest and consumption will soar as we go deeper into 2019. BAIC is, of course, one of the biggest players in the Chinese market and doing everything possible to capture more numbers.

The BAIC Arcfox-7 is one of the concepts that will be a game-changer for the company. It is expected to hit the market by June 2019.

Powered by three electric motors with a combined total of 603 hp, the Arcfox-7 weighs 3,870 pounds, sprints to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph. It also has a range of 186 miles per charge.

It is a fancy car with its scissor doors giving it a familiar Italian look and shape. If you do closer scrutiny, again, you will see elements of a BMW i8 in right there.

You would expect it to wear so much of modern tech and indeed it does. Among them is the Turbine-Recharged Electric Vehicle (TREV). This Chinese super car utilizes a 1,030-hp electric-turbine powertrain with six electric motors that help it reach a top speed of 217 mph.

It is expected to be one of the biggest things to hit the auto market from China this year. We can’t help but wait to see how things turn out in the long run.
