How BMW 3 Coupe Became A Robotic Machine

Based On The Transformer Movie Robots, This Is Actually Real

In our escapades to hunt some of the most outstanding and breathtaking automobiles for you, we sometimes stop to marvel at just what man can achieve. If you’ve not heard of the BMW coupe that can turn into a “Transformer” robot, sit back and read through.

Letvision is a Turkish-based company that has the backing of the Turkey’s Ministry of Industry and KOSGEB, a government body that funds small and medium-sized industrial businesses. It was founded in 2009 and is spearheading groundbreaking R&D projects.

It is this company that turned a rather inconsequential BMW M3 coupe into a robotic creature that took the internet by storm. Letvision named the Transformer-like creation Letrons to avoid copyright infringement.

The robotic car can only be control remotely, as the seating part of the car is currently taken up by the hydraulics system required for the awesome transformation into a Letron. However, there are plans to make the vehicles drivable, which probably means integrating the passenger seat into the Letron as well.

It took the effort of a team of 12 engineers and 4 technicians eight months to complete. They have created four other Letron models and are currently working on creating them using various car models.

You can actually own one (for an undisclosed amount of money) if and only if, your “reasons for use, meets the criteria of the Letrons team.”
