Polaris Slingshot Is Neither A Motor Bike, Nor A Car

This Vehicles Is Quite The Head-turner

To put it right upfront, the Polaris Slingshot is neither a car nor a motorcycle. Does that sound confusing?Let’s explore it.

The Slingshot is a two-seater and residents sit side-by-side. It has two wheels up front and one in the rear. The driver controls the Slingshot with car-like controls – steering wheel, foot pedals, center-mounted gear shift lever. There’s a single center drive wheel in the rear, and the vehicle’s plastic body panels mount on a frame made of steel tubing.

A 2.4-liter General Motors-sourced inline 4-cylinder engine producing 173 hp/166 lb-ft of torque is connected to a 5-speed manual transmission. It is able to garner 1,749-lb.

This is one of GM’s most popular engine and belongs to the Ecotec engine family family that has been around for more than a decade as GM’s global 4-cylinder. It’s known for durability, that gives you some comfort in that that when it needs repair or rebuilding (as every engine will eventually), there will be a wide service network available, and an even wider knowledge base.

There is something treacherous about the Slingshot and I will make it clear. You see, it gives you the convenience of three wheels, which means that it doesn’t have to be balanced like a motorcycle.

It also has seatbelts, but it doesn’t have the advanced safety equipment that a car provides, like airbags and other occupant protection. However, as far as the weather and the circumstances are right, the Slingshot is one very cool mobility item to ride around in.

It is even feels special when it has a Slingshade, giving you a sense of protection from merciless weather situations.
