Honoring A Great Performer In A Deserving Way

Whilst Porsche was celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2018, one of its cars remained in sharp focus-It is the Porsche 356. It became an important player in global celebrations and for a very good reason.

The 356 Roadster was the car that Ferry Porsche use to illuminate his vision of a sports car and as it would happen several years later, history was made. Actually, its history includes its place of origin, a small town is known as Gmünd found in the northwestern Waldviertel region of Lower Austria. This is where the car no.1 was handmade.

It would then go on to become an important player in the field of sports motoring through its well-thought engineering solutions that brought about affordability, usability and mass ownership of sports cars in pre-war European world. It was in 1848 that the Roadster got its operating permit thereby making it officially road legal.

Car No.1, therefore, holds great and unique importance in the company’s heritage. It is thus befitting that during the vehicles 70th anniversary the role of this car in shaping the history of the company was rightly honored.
