The Car With A Longtail And Superspeed: The 2020 McLaren Speedtail

The 2020 McLaren Speedtail Is A Very Ambitious Supercar

The McLaren F1 has done an incredible job since the supercar company brought it around in the 1990s. However, if the latest developments are anything to go by, it might be replaced by the McLaren Speedtail, which will be the fastest and probably most modernized car the company ever produced.

It is aptly named the Speedtail because it literary has a tail-looking rear design, achieved by an extended 5.2 meter carbon-fiber body which gives it enhanced aerodynamic abilities. Without being mean with its speeds, the hypercar will sprint from 0- 186 mph in just 12.8 seconds and rides all the way to a top speed of 250 mph.

Carrying on with F1’s trend, the Speedtail will be a 3-seater hypercar with the driver sitting at a central driving position while two passengers sit at the left and right sides of the cabin.
This ambitious futuristic car will draw its power from a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain. It is anticipated to achieve as much as 987 horsepower (736–kilowatt) using a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine as its main source of power. All these efforts will enable the hypercar to rise from 0-62 mph in just two seconds.

McLaren calls the Speedtail a Hyper-GT. Only 106 examples of this champion will be produced and delivered from 2020. The price tag is somewhere around $2.5 million each. You might have to wait until one of the 106 owners has had it long enough for you to become a second buyer- they are already sold out.

The interior is something to behold. From his central position, the driver has five screens to himself, all performing varying functions, including a digital mirror system that replaces the wing mirrors. And with these, the design team has only stretched the boundaries a little too far for a good cause.

Competition is stiff and the whims are continuously turning. This gives automakers no room for slumber. The McLaren Speedtail aims to take on the likes of the Bugatti Chiron and the Koenigsegg Agera RS head on. We can’t wait to spot one on the road soonest possible.
