The Ferrari 488 Pista Series: A Stroke Of Genius

This Convertible Is The Fastest Thing That Ferrari Created

The Paris Motor Show brought to the world a lot of vehicle engineering concepts that challenged the way we look at cars besides challenging the status quo. Top sports, supercar, luxurious car manufacturers and just about everyone else really put their best foot forward to showcase the present and the future.

As usual, Ferrari came in their Sunday best. This time they introduced the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider, a small, convertible supercar that has no equal. In all aspects, it is one small car built with a stroke of genius.

The Ferrari 488 Spider houses a 3.9 lire twin-turbocharged V8. Bear in mind that it is has won three “Best Engine” awards. With this, the 488 sprints from 0-62 mph in just 2.85 secs. At 711 bhp and 568 lb ft of torque, it will not take you too long to hit the 211 top speed limit.

This car, says Ferrari is lighter than the Coupe, which is equally designed for extreme super performance. Much of the redesigns and influential works have gone into its body works and aerodynamics. The front and rear diffuser increase its downforce by about 20%. With the 488 Pista Spider the side-slip angle control system now moves to the sixth generation.

It is a light car weighing 1380 kg. It has also opened the next frontier in supercar engineering taking all aspects to the next level.
