The lovelier, sportier, and more expensive Toyota 86

The Toyota 86 is an indisputably gifted sports car. Produced in conjunction with Subaru, this car shares its DNA with the Subaru BRZ, and the pair has managed to pull quite a sizable crowd of fans to its corner.

And now a new generation, which is obviously a little belated is coming our way. Not much has been said or seen about this car but it surely is in the making. There is quite some speculation to whet our appetite on this one.

It is expected that the Toyota 86 will carry a refreshed architecture, featuring improved rear-wheel-drive specifications. Again, Toyota will be responsible for the platform, while Subaru will work on the engine.

It is expected to get a turbocharged 2.4-liter, similar to the one that motivates the Ascent. The nice engine will be responsible for churning at least. The current Toyota 86 does 7.6 seconds when riding a manual gearbox and 8.2 seconds for the automatic model.

In the same breathe of updates, we expect some awesome changes inside, including better materials to improve the harnessed status of the Toyota 86. At the end of the day, all the additional tweaks will make the Toyota 86 a lovelier, sportier and more capable machine. This will also make it more expensive than the current model, but we bet it will be an investment worth the hyper.
