Amazing Performance – The New SRT Hellcat Redeye

The New Sheriff In Town Is Quite A Performer

Dodge calls it “the most powerful, quickest, and fastest muscle car.” Arguably, the car is made for super performance if its specs are anything to by.

The standard Redeye drives on a V8 engine producing 797 horsepower (594 kilowatts) and 707 pound-feet (958 Newton-meters) of torque. Torque has been upgraded from the Demon model so that the new one has up to 18% torque multiplication using a torque converter.

This is a car that sprints from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 secs and hits a top speed of 203 mph. In a quarter mile or having run for 10.8 ses, the Redeye would be hitting 131 mph. This makes it 1.5 secs slower than the limited-edition Demon.

Compared to its predecessor Challengers, the Redeye is the first to carry a supercharger engine that consumes 2.1 liters. It also has an upgrade on its fuel-injection system which now has dual-stage fuel pumps.

An interesting observation is that at full throttle, the Redeye can drain can drain its 18.5-gallon fuel tank in 11 minutes, all of that going into 6.2-liter V-8. The As standard, 2019 SRT Hellcat wears h 20-inch lightweight performance wheels, but there is also the Widebody Package which will put on wider 305/35ZR20 Pirelli P-Zero tires.

When it begins deliveries, prices will be in the the range of $72,745 for what Dodge calls the 27z package (inclusive of $1700 gas-guzzler tax). The Widebody Challenger will be in the $79,400 bracket. It comes with 11.0-by-20-inch aluminum wheels and 305/35ZR-20 all-season performance tires which are optional.

Manufacturers are in a haste to do things differently and we are seeing a trend in which automakers are making a crazy rush for top performing vehicles. The Dodge Redeye will no doubt carve some space for itself in this category.
