The Ferrari 458 Speciale rides on a 4.5-liter V8 with 597 bhp and 398 lb-ft of torque. This is good enough to help it sprint from 0-62 mph in a mere 3.0 seconds.

It would seem that Ferrari engineers pulled out lots of interesting ideas from Formular 1 and fixed them upon the Ferrari 458 Speciale. One of these is a revised crankshaft which significantly improves lubrication for the main bearings.

It was also gifted a 7-speed F/1 dual-clutch transmission, making it not just a thrill but also fun to drive. The other car in the Ferrari stable coming close to the Speciale is the Italia, yet it still doesn’t compare to ease of transmission on this one.

Weighing only 2,844 pounds (versus 3,042 pounds for the Italia), this car would be deemed to have too much power yet it utilizes all its faculties with a sense of pride. There are indeed a lot of reasons why this car is in the good books of observers and general enthusiasts.

It was Ferrari’s first production car that utilized Side Slip Angle Control, a technology advanced by the company. It is explained that this system is able to analyze a heap of data such as lateral acceleration, yaw angle and steering-wheel angle as well as speed, and then distributes traction and torque to the rear wheels, thus enabling optimization of the car’s performance and control.
