For those turning their calendars for their 84th year, there is one of your own in the automotive industry: The Chevrolet Suburban. This is the one that holds the record for the longest-running nameplate in unbroken continuous production.

Even though World War II, this car became a useful military aid, adding crowns to its lengthy existence. According to General Motors, more than two million units have been produced at this time. There is so much to be proud of about this humongous hauler.

But there are several factors that have made the Suburban such a beloved Chevy. One of them is the fact that this is beautifully adaptive for both urban and rural cruising.

The standard engine takes is a V-8 that takes guzzles 5.3-liters. It produces 355 horsepower and is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

You can go up the scale with the more powerful V-8 that drinks 6.2-liters and generates 420 hp. This one gets an incredible 10 speeds gearbox.

At 220-inches in length, the Suburban is more extravagant than most people will need. Nonetheless, it doesn’t disappoint. It has done this for more than eighty years.
