This Russian car came, saw, and left a conspicuous mark on supercars

Russia has plenty of things that the world can’t just ignore no matter how hard anyone tries. Least of them, however, is supercars. Some years back though Marussia Motors, founded in 2007, built two supercars that were named Marussia B1 and Marussia B2.

The company went ahead to produce 500 examples of the B1, with each selling at a pricey $130,460. Let’s shift our focus to the Marussia B2 for now.

The B2 had a choice of a 2.8-liter, V-6 turbo engine as well as a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V-6 engine. Power was between 300 to 420 HP but either engine sent the car from 0 to 60 mph within 3.2 seconds.

The top speed was an impressive 190 mph. Like the B1, only 500 units were planned for production and they all sold out just under a year of production.

These cars were built by Valmet, the company that gave us the outrageously powerful and crazily designed Fisker Karma. This car came with an adjustable suspension as well as massively powerful brakes and ultra-light alloy wheels that were tied to high-performance tires.

Whether this was an experimental project or one that the Russians had given sincere thoughts can’t be very clear now given that the company never produced follow up machines even though these cars received a grand good reception. Nonetheless, they left an indelible mark in the production of supercars in recent years.
