Here Comes The Amazing New SKODA KAMIQ SUV
The Kamiq Is Quite Promising; Will it Turn Skoda’s Fortune Around?
The new Skoda Kamiq will be the smallest in the line of the Czech brand’s SUV giftings. It will come right below the medium-sized Karoq and larger Kodiaq.
It will me fighiting for a share of the market with the likes of the Hyundai Kona and Nissan Juke. The Seat Arona and VW T-Cross will also be sparring with the Kamiq.
But what exactly is the newborn like? Is it more of a Kodiaq or a Karoq? Is it a totally new creation with everything of its own? Let’s get down to it.
The design leans more towards the Skodiaq. The Kamiq is based on Volkswagen Group’s MQB architecture.
This platform is also found on medium-sized SEATs, Skodas, Audis and VWs. This insinuates that it will be front-wheel drive, have all-independent suspension on premium versions.
We also expect it to offer four-wheel drive, just to ride with the SUV tide. It will be launched with an all-new 1.5-liter engine that produces 109 bhp and 111 lb ft of torque.
The company’s marketing executives say it will be priced below the Karoq. Sales and marketing head Alain Favey said that this will make it competitive and that they are eyeing the Chinese market with the pricing.
“Pricing it below the Karoq means we can get it to a price range for China that we would not have been able to reach in Europe,” he said. For the time being, the Kamiq will not be offered with an electrified powertrain, thus retaining its affordability.
Whichever way you look at it, it is clear that the Kamiq will be coming to a space where the company has tested the waters and there is some immense potential. Considering that Skoda sold 325,000 cars in China in 2018, there is a clear indication that it may spell good tidings for the company.
