Honda S2000: A Timeless Car That Is Still Functional

Timeless, Sporty, And Stout: This Is Honda S2000

The Honda S2000 is not a new car for all practical reasons and purposes. It’s been around for quite some good time and came as a replacement to the S800. But what made the S2000 so popular and fun?

The S2000’s engine sets the Honda apart from the rest. It produces 237 bhp from a 2.0-litre block. This still makes it enviable and if you are reminded that it still had this output in 2009, you will find it impressive.

Remember the S2000 gains its power without forced induction. What’s more, the S2000 also revs to 9000 rpm. The placement of the four-pot so far back in the engine bay, technically makes the Honda a front/mid-engine sports car.

The seating position is yet another clue that this car takes its sporting credentials rather seriously. We could say it borrows a leaf from the 1950s Le Mans racer. Right in front of you notice is a huge digital rev counter that adds up to the sense of sporting the S2000 is meant to handle.

The alloy gearknob is intuitively placed under your left palm on top of the high central transmission tunnel, which juts into the cabin and limits space for larger drivers. It’s so intrusive because it sprouts from the gearbox directly under the lever.

In addition, there’s a lot of black plastic but the overall feeling inside the cabin is one of quality without unnecessary exaggeration. The red seats and carpet, which had become something of a fast Honda trademark by the late 1990s, heighten the sense of occasion and you adds to the cheer of stepping on the gas.

Even an old one gives you the feeling and a sense of greatness.
