Will The Hennessey’s Venom Really Achieve 1600 hp?

Huge Promise On This Supercar

As far as competition for the top slots in the hypercar segment goes, there are never enough surprises. A press release from automaker may bear so much mouthwatering information that until you see, touch and feel the product, your heart never stops racing.

Truth is, there are enough competitors at the top performing vehicles, but this space is continuously being challenged. The Hennessey Venom has been at it for some time now but the promises it makes for the future is way too breathtaking.

The supercar employs some thoroughly tested technology such as the advanced computational fluid dynamic (CFD) calculations to make it cut through the air with precision and efficiency. This is a vehicle that also carries a flat underfloor and active wing elements to give it astonishing speeds.

In September 2018, Founder and CEO John Hennessey said that the 7.6-liter, twin-turbo, V-8 engine has the ability to hit as much as 2,000 horsepower. “We’ve actually tested the engine at over 2,000 bhp,” Hennessey said.

“Do we plan to deliver that power level to our clients? No, but we’ll deliver as much power as we need to break 300 mph.” This may sound really far-fetched. However, considering that the vehicle has achieved as much as 1,600 hp, it is not a mere dream.

And how about the 300 mph? Hennessey says; “300 mph is the kind of baseline – that’s where we would like to begin.” In this day and age, there is nothing too ambitious or unachievable. With automakers eager to disrupt the status quo, we are likely to witness even more crazy-sounding ideas over and over.
