Fisker Automotive Promises One-Minute Charging Car

Changing The Way We Charge Electric Vehicles

Some of the things and ideas we hear nowadays especially in regards to electric motoring make us envy the day the world will be riding only on these very promising rides. A new battery from Fisker might change the way electric vehicles are charged.

Recently, the company filed a patent detailing that they have designed a new solid-state battery. Not only will this provide a single range of 804 kilometers but also it might take just one minute to charge the vehicle.

Very promising, right? Whether this happens, or not, it is just too good news for the automotive world.

The high range of solid-state batteries is made possible due to the extra energy density compared to the current lithium-ion batteries. Specifically, Fisker’s design is claimed to have 2.5 times the energy density of current battery technology.

But solid-state batteries also enable quicker charging. This is due to their three-dimensional electrodes that have 25 times more surface area than flat thin-film electrodes, along with high electronic and ionic conductivity.

Alongside, the state-solid battery, the company announced the EMotion all-electric luxury car that is primarily focused on taking a slice of Tesla Model S. Through levering “solid state” battery technology the car manufacturer claims over 400-miles of range out of its 143-kWh lithium-ion battery.

Again, the fast-charging feature makes things juicier. The fact of the matter is that we like the developments taking place in the auto industry today. It is a craze that we wouldn’t want to slow down as it promises to bring us nothing but the best.
