Miami Welcomes New Cruiser To The Streets
A three wheeler Polaris Slingshot is now under the safe custody of Miami Police department. The spectacularly designed machine, sprinting with 174hp and picking from 0-60mph/90kph in 5.5. secs could as well be used as a chase car but Miami cops have no plans to use it for that.
Instead, they will use it to reach out to the youths in the language they understand best. “Kids are going to want to walk up to this car, see it, sit in it, talk to the policemen, the policemen get to talk to the kids,” said Miami Police Chief Emilio Gonzalez.
And while there are no plans to use it as a pursuit vehicle, it wouldn’t be a bad one. Its lightweight chassis and 174 hp four-cylinder engine is good for a 0-60 mph time of about 5.5 seconds and 130 mph top speed. Miami-based car shop, The Auto Firm, built the car pro-bono. It is no less a police car coming complete with a siren and colored lights. The Avorza wheels gives the trike a steamy look.
It is also tech hyped with an infotainment system, navigation, new wind deflector, and color-matched rear fender. The door-less chaser is precisely built for the sunny Miami weather but gives makes it cool to ride in with its partial windshield.
