The Serious-Looking 2020 Kia Soul EV

The New Electric Kia Soul

When some automakers have tried to make the EV business sound extraordinarily astronomical, others like the Asian giant KIA motors has chosen a rather different path; keeping it simple and practical.

If this doesn’t sound close to realistic, take a close look at the Kia Soul EV and you will find all the hype simplified for common use. The 2020 Kia Soul EV revealed at the LA Auto show is a front-wheel-drive whose electric motor will deliver 201 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque. This is a significant rise from the 2018 Soul EV’s which gave us 109 horsepower and 210 pound-feet.

This power has been upped primarily because of a bigger battery (a liquid-cooled 64-kWh) that will drive you for 239 miles. That this is a very practical car in looks and performance is all very evident.

The new version will also wear 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, unique fog lamps. Being an EV, it has less use of a grille and instead takes this space to enhance its shape.

This car has applied enviable tech just as would be expected, bringing around a 10.3-inch color touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a suite of active safety systems, and a revamped version of the UVO telematics system through which drivers can check the battery state and charging status. It is also useful in outlining a charging schedule.

Kia has taken the EV prospects rather seriously, perhaps with the recognition that it will be a viciously competitive segment. Making the Soul EV a representative in its worthy cause is agreeably the right thing to do.
