Changing London Taxi With Electric Motoring

Anyone who has been closely following the motor industry will notice that it is becoming difficult to keep up with the pace. So much is happening, with fancy announcements being made from all corners of the globe.

Quite tellingly, a lot of these developments have centered around private motoring. No serious disruption to public transportation for the time being. This, though, is just a matter of time, if companies such as Dynamo Motors make good their promises.

Dynamo is a UK-based vehicle manufacturer that is working on an electric car for the taxi business. Based on the popular Nissan NV200, this car is 100% electric and can do up to 170 miles on a single charge.

Not only is it an easy-looking car with a simplistic approach but also one that incorporates enviable modern technology. The cab still rides on the standard drivetrain of the e-NV200. It will charge for upto 80% in about 40 minutes.

Dynamo CEO Brendan O’Toole that his company is taking advantage of electric motoring as “a viable alternative to petrol and diesel vehicles, and it’s imperative the UK’s taxi market.” The company buys NV200s from Nissan and then modifies both the interior and exterior to fit electrification specifications.

This taxi is able to pull 107 hp and 187 lb-ft of torque. A 40-kWh battery can power the vehicle for 187 miles, according to the supplier.

Dynamo is planning to have the first 500 taxis hit the road in 2020 and then triple this volume by 2021.
