Sleeker, Stylish Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport

Crossing over with a sportier VW

The relatively smaller VW Cross Sport comes to cater to passengers that want something slightly bigger than a three-row unit but not unnecessarily spacious. The VW comes in two platform choices, a 235-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder or the 276-hp 3.6-liter V-6.

Front-wheel drive is standard but if you want AWD, you could pick on VW’s 4Motion. An outstanding design characteristic of this car is the steeply raked rear window and coupe-like roofline.

It certainly makes it nicely curved, stylish, and sleeker. If the designers had competitors such as Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Honda Passport in mind, then they aren’t doing too badly although these have a more rugged outlook.

The Atlas Cross Sport models are offered with a touchscreen infotainment display that is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Navigation is an optional addition and so is a reconfigurable digital gauge display as well as SiriusXM satellite radio.

VW’s Car-Net connectivity app that allows remote starting and analytics can be attached. There is also 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, making this a smart-device friendly environment.

Drifting slightly from the regular Atlas, the second row is created as a three-across bench. There is impressive cargo space and could be enough for a moderate out-of-town trip.
