The Nissan Xmotion: A Futuristic Approach

Seven Digital Screens With A Wooden Interior

At the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, January 2018, Nissan unveiled one of its most futuristic car concepts that will shape the next decade or so. Why is it such a big deal, you ask? This not just another innovation by the distinguished car maker.

It is one very futuristic vehicle that is fitted with so much tech that if you lose your manual, you will easily get lost. If you think this is just hyperbole, look at the magnificent gigantic screen that runs the width of the dashboard from the driver’s side to the passenger.

In fact, there are a total of seven digital touchscreens that replaces the traditional instrument panels and manual controls. Then Nissan brought about a rather small-sized, rectangular steering wheel.

This is evidently experimental but awesomely functional. Mind you the pedals are color-camouflaged, matching the flooring red and bamboo theme. It is something you haven’t seen before.

Whilst you marvel at the sophistication of wooden bamboo parts spread through various parts in the interior, wait until you see the exterior of the car. The roofline is struggling to square-off with its retractable storage box.

But it is the front that seems to carry most of the burdens on the Xmotion. It features a wide grille, conspicuously well-endowed wheels and the edges carrying the headlights are protected with a hollow space running from the front bumper.

It makes this car look like it carries horns on at the edges of the front bumper. When introducing the car, Nissan didn’t mention what powertrain the Xmotion will bear, presumably because it is just a concept at the moment.

However, it wouldn’t be surprising to see production units come as electric powered or hybrid crossovers if we ever get there.
