This is Terrafugia Transition: The Flying Car Of The Future

How soon can we have flying cars on our roads,or the sky? Very, very soon indeed!

Massachusetts based Terrafugia Inc. has gotten closer to having flying cars invade our space. The ambitious company(founded back in 2006 by five award-winning MIT graduates and now owned by Chinese firm Geely Holding) is now optimistic that its first creation, a two-seat auto and aircraft dubbed the Transition will hit the US market in 2019.

The Transition has four wheels, folding wings and a rear-mounted “pusher” propeller. It draws its power from a four-cylinder hybrid-electric engine, and is able to fly 100 miles an hour at altitudes of up to 9,000 feet.

It’s flying range is pegged at 400 miles. Of course it features both flying and driving driving controls including brake and accelerator pedals and a steering wheel fro the road as well as the usual yoke and rudder pedals for flight mode.

Before you fork out $400,000 to own the Transition, there are a few things you must know. First, it will not literary lift you out of traffic. ALthough it is certified to drive on US roads, the Transition can only land and take off from certified and you must have a driver’s licence to run one.

It has admirable abilities nonetheless as it will switch from driving to flying mode in less than a minute. It stands out as a light aircraft that can get owners away from bad weather which hinders flying.

The vehicle runs on ordinary premium gasoline and you can park it right in your garage.
