This Is The Rinspeed “SNAP”

Combining A Car Wtih A Portable Venue

Anytime the Swiss automotive powerhouse Rinspeed does a presentation, you are forced to pay attention. They have recently been giving us incessant disruptive concepts that will grandly have an impact on future mobility.

Snap is one such concept. It simply rides on the idea that its chassis can be connected to a completely different cab or what the company calls “pods.”

The company is pursuing a rather noble cause with this concept poising it will contribute to “reduce congestion and pollution in crowded cities.” As such, the Snap Mobility Concept is absolutely autonomous and utilities a fully electric powertrain, even though the company hasn’t revealed the figures yet.

A significant feature is lack of a conventional exterior and instead, the outer shell is what looks like an extended skateboard, which is the preferred name for this body by the company. The skateboard is so flexible that electronics and other components within can undergo modification and overhaul replacement without grossly affecting the functionality of the body.

According to the company, this kind of shell-build makes it possible to remain in use for a long time. Rinspeed explains it to have “long-lasting IT components that are not bound to be outdated quickly.”

Rinspeed has shown a lot of potential in changing future mobility. It has its eyes set on the use of IT to have shared rides get easier and become an everyday affair.

Snap is the startup’s 24 concept and, at this speed, we can safely say lots of good stuff is in the pipeline.
