We Have Our Appetite Ready For The 2020 Koenigsegg Regera

Sleeves Are Rolled As The Swedish Automaker Reigns Supreme

Recently, top-notch, high-performance Swedish car manufacturer Koenigsegg Automotive made an update to the iconic Koenigsegg Agera. Koenigsegg is, of course, not a pleaser of competitors but an independent-minded automaker who is never too far from breaking his own record. That’s why yet another of its production makes it to this page. The Koenigsegg Regera.

Why the manufacturer decided to have the names of these two super performers closely resemble is a story only they can tell (Regera is Swedish for Reign while Agera in the same language means Act.) Even then we can tell for sure that just like the Agera, the Koenigsegg Regera is made to surprise, amaze and be a show stopper.

The concept gave us a hint during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. A production guise would come to the same event a year later in Switzerland. But it is a totally different occurrence that made heads roll.

In July 2018, two Koenigsegg employees were seen at a gas station in Ängelholm, Sweden with what can only be described as a car under construction. It featured an unpainted body whose clothing could most certainly be carbon fiber.

Two months later in September, founder and CEO Christian von Koenigsegg told one tabloid that 80 units were headed for production. As at then, five were ready and 20 more were in the production line.

In the customer examples released by the company, the Regera boasted 1,500 horsepower (1,118 kilowatts) supplied by a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8, supplemented/complimented by three electric motors. This leaves no room for mediocrity driving.

Koenigsegg has so far done well for itself and the world. As the Regera preps to debut in March 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show, we can’t help but whet our appetite for this super item.
