From Korea, The Rexton DKR Will Debut At Dakar 2019

In native South Korea Ssangyong means double dragons or a dragon with two heads. Got that? In this Asian economic giant, Ssangyong, the automaker is poised as the fourth largest South Korean-based automobile manufacturer.

This is a good position which an ambitious crafter can utilize to do little experimental gigs. The company has seized the moment to enter the Dakar 2019 competition with a brand new roadster dubbed the Rexton DKR.

By all standards, the Rexton is quite a buggy car, one worth putting on Dakar competitions for that is where it belongs. The gigantic vehicle bears a V-8 engine which gives it 450 hp. It also prides of a sequential gearbox and newly designed suspensions and rims designed and customized specifically for the car.

Remember that the Rexton series has a history going back to 2001 as SUV. But the car made for Dakar is precisely a new car that will probably be testing the waters. The company has the able pair of Oscar Fuertes and Diego Vallejo to steer the car.

In the last season of the race, the pair positioned the company 32nd on the overall. This time around, Vallejo predicts a more challenging face-off. He says with determination “Last year the five days in Peru were very hard, with people leaving already in the prologue … it will be that but multiplied by two.”
