We Truly Love The 2020 Volkswagen Passat

The Passat Is A Classic With a Fresh Look For 2020

To some people the year is still new and fresh. To automakers, time is far much spent and they are already looking far beyond the horizon and into the future.

If you don’t believe this, we already have a sneak preview of what the 2020 Volkswagen Passat will look like. Truth be told, we love what we see so far!

VW’s German design studio gave the car more bodyside creases, SUV-like front end, and a tasteful rear-end tweak. You might be tempted to fall in love with the car’s rear side even more, with the “Passat” wordmark spread out and spanning the trunklid between the tail lamps.

Here several creases terminate at the upper corners and, on the R-Line there is a diffuser-like element placed between rhomboid exhaust finishers. This time, the Passat comes in four trim levels, S, SE, SEL and R-Line, along with a special launch-only limited model.

Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine making 174 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. Note that the pony power remains unchanged but torque is up significantly from 184. The transmission continues to be a 6-speed automatic.

VW is making more features standard across the board including blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, standard LED lighting, rain sensing wipers, voice control, satellite radio and adaptive cruise control. There are also new 17- through 19-inch wheels available.

The German automaker remains one of the manufacturers ultimately focused to retain sedans on the roads. If they will continue to come in the style of the 2020 VW Passat, we have no qualms with it. Let them come.
